About Salenovo
Salenovo: data to help businesses grow.
Salenovo follows every new UK company from the day it's registered to what becomes of it, and works out which will turn into real businesses. It publishes the free Formation Index and Business Survival Index for every UK council, and supplies the data to firms that want to reach new businesses as they open.
What it is
Every working day roughly 3,000 companies are incorporated in the UK, and about two-thirds of them never trade: they're dissolved within a couple of years, sit dormant, or were only ever a vehicle for a property or a holding. Anyone who sells to new businesses (an accountant, an energy supplier, an insurer, a lender, a telecoms or card payment provider, a wholesaler) has always had to sift the whole register by hand or buy a raw list and accept the waste.
Salenovo scores every new company on the day it's formed, using what happened to earlier companies whose outcomes are now known (2.5 million, traced from 2022 to 2024). For each one we know what it does (an operating business, a property vehicle or a holding company, and in which trade), where it's based, its chance of trading, and how to reach it: a verified website and a generic business mailbox where the company publishes one. Then we follow what happens next, from its first accounts to new premises, licences and registrations. How the scoring works, and how well.
Accountancy practices can have the whole week's new companies in their council every Monday as a ranked list, with a sheet of the companies whose accounts are coming due (£29 a month per council). Suppliers who sell to a business the week it moves in or changes hands (telecoms, card terminals, waste, water, fleet, security, pest control, signage, insurance) can have a daily file of those premises, and advisory practices the growth list of established companies that are scaling, each from £250 a month for a region. Who runs it
Matt Vallis is Salenovo's founder: a CAIA charterholder with twenty years' experience across banking, finance and payments before starting Salenovo, which follows every UK incorporation through to what becomes of it. Why "Salenovo"
Sale + novo: new sales. The name was chosen for a business that helps firms find their next customers among the companies that are new this week.

Salenovo is independent: it isn't owned by any accountancy firm, formation agent, lender, supplier or marketing agency. Its revenue comes from the data it sells: the weekly list for accountancy practices (£29 a month per council at the founding price, locked for twelve months; £49 standard) and data built for businesses in other sectors.
What it is not
It's not a directory of directors: no director names, dates of birth, nationalities or home addresses are collected or sold, and the reasons are set out in the privacy notice. It's not an email-sending tool or a CRM, and it doesn't contact anyone on a subscriber's behalf. It's not a credit reference agency, and a low band isn't a judgement about anyone's honesty. It's a statistical estimate of whether a company will file trading accounts.
Sources and licences
Company facts come from the Companies House public register (Open Government Licence v3.0). Geography is the ONS Postcode Directory (OGL). Food premises come from the Food Standards Agency's Food Hygiene Rating Scheme (OGL). Websites are read by our own crawler, SalenovoBot, which obeys robots.txt and reads only the home, contact and legal pages. Every number on this site says where it came from and when it was last updated.

The monthly UK Business Formation Index is published on the first working day of each month with national and regional numbers, sector shifts and a downloadable table; every council's weekly numbers are on its own page and as JSON.
