About Salenovo
Salenovo tells local firms which of this week's new companies will actually become businesses — and gives them a way to reach the ones that will. It is built and run by Matt Vallis in Essex, and it publishes the free weekly Formation Index for every UK council as well as the paid weekly list.
What it is
Every working day roughly 2,900 companies are incorporated in the UK, and about two-thirds of them never trade: they are dissolved within a couple of years, sit dormant, or were only ever a vehicle for a property or a holding. Anyone who sells to new businesses — an accountant, an insurance broker, a web agency, a wholesaler — has always had to sift the whole register by hand or buy a raw list and accept the waste.
Salenovo scores every new company on the day it is formed, using what happened to 447,000 earlier companies with known outcomes, classifies what it is (an operating business, a property vehicle, a holding company), checks whether it already has a website that is really its own, and matches it to registered food premises. The result is a ranked weekly list per council, with a verified website and a generic business mailbox where the company publishes one — and a public page for every local authority, region and postcode area showing the numbers for free. Why "Salenovo"
Sale + novo: new sales. The name was chosen for a business that helps firms find their next customers among the companies that are new this week. It is pronounced sa-le-NO-vo, and it is not related to any other company with a similar name.

Salenovo is independent: it is not owned by, and does not share data with, any accountancy firm, formation agent, lender or marketing agency. Revenue comes only from subscriptions to the weekly list (£29 a month per council — founding price, locked for twelve months; £49 standard).
What it is not
It is not a directory of directors: no director names, dates of birth or home addresses are collected or sold, and the reasons are set out in the privacy notice. It is not an email-sending tool or a CRM, and it does not contact anyone on a subscriber's behalf. It is not a credit reference agency, and a low band is not a judgement about anyone's honesty — it is a statistical estimate of whether a company will file trading accounts.
Sources and licences
Company facts come from the Companies House public register (Open Government Licence v3.0). Geography is the ONS Postcode Directory (OGL). Food premises come from the Food Standards Agency's Food Hygiene Rating Scheme (OGL). Websites are read by our own crawler, SalenovoBot, which obeys robots.txt and reads only the home, contact and legal pages. Every number on this site says where it came from and when it was last updated.
