New companies in EC

The EC postcode area saw 993 new companies incorporated in the week of 19 October to 25 October 2026, 20% above the year-earlier weekly average (adjusted for companies dissolved since). About 489 of them are expected to trade, judging by what happened to similar companies; 86% were registered at a mass-formation or virtual-office address, so 140 were formed at their own address. Rising this week: No SIC given, Education, Professional services. Among companies formed in the last 8 weeks, 848 already have a website verified as theirs and 6 have registered food premises.

What happens to them

Of the 14,558 companies formed in the EC postcode area between January 2022 and September 2023 at their own address, 59% were still on the register three years later and 42% had filed trading accounts (UK: 51% and 35%). A further 42,537 were registered at mass-formation or virtual-office addresses (74% of the total) and are left out, because their outcomes say more about the agent than the place (what these addresses are). Most of the rest never traded: they missed their first confirmation statement and were struck off at about seventeen months.
