New companies in Salford

Salford saw 62 new companies incorporated in the week of 19 October to 25 October 2026, 16% below the year-earlier weekly average (adjusted for companies dissolved since). About 26 of them are expected to trade, judging by what happened to similar companies. Rising this week: Construction. What happens to them

Of the 6,321 companies formed in Salford between January 2022 and September 2023 at their own address, 46% were still on the register three years later and 31% had filed trading accounts, ranking 311th of 357 councils (UK: 51% and 35%; North West: 49% and 33%). Across the UK, the trade codes chosen by new companies rose 36% between 2019 and 2025, partly because founders now pick more codes for each company, so a rise in one trade can simply keep pace with the register. A company can choose up to four trade codes, so one company can appear in two rows and is counted in the total once for each. Pub and bar sites in Salford registered for VAT or PAYE, as counted by the Office for National Statistics each March (UK Business Counts, SIC 56302, rounded to 5). In March 2026, 82% of them were run by a company.
